Vietnam looks to tighten education cooperation with France

Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan is on a working visit to France from June 4-9 with a hope of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field.

On June 5, Luan joined education ministers of 44 other state members of the International Organisation of La Francophonie at the Meeting of Francophone Education Ministers on the development of a French-language digital space. 
They focused discussions on digital sources, and how to develop the digital system to increase the quality of teaching in tertiary education.

They also agreed to intensify information sharing and the use of digital academic materials at higher education facilities through the establishment of a Francophone e-portal. 
On June 8, the Vietnamese official held talks with Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, French Minister of Education, Higher Education and Research, during which they discussed and agreed on several measures to foster bilateral ties in education and training, particularly scholarship provision, and Vietnamese-language teaching for overseas Vietnamese in France. 

They also signed an agreement between the two ministries in the recognition of training qualification for students. 
In her interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency, the French minister said that her ministry will consider updating scholarship granting policies for Vietnamese students.
