Promotional events in Hanoi boost sales of OCOP products

Hanoi stimulates the consumption of One Commune, One Product (OCOP) products through numerous promotional and networking events.

Many trade promotion events for Hanoi's OCOP products associated with the culture of provinces in the Central Highlands and Southern regions will be held until the end of 2023, according to the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Nguyen Van Chi, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Coordination Office of the New Rural Construction Program, said last week's event on Trinh Cong Son Pedestrian Street is the beginning of a series of trade promotion activities for the sale of OCOP products and safe farm produce linked to the culture of provinces and cities across the country. More than 100 booths with over 2,000 OCOP products were displayed at the fair.

Consumers in the city had the opportunity to access specialties from 35 provinces and cities across the country, from the northern mountainous region to the central, central highlands, and southern regions. All products have been certified by provincial authorities to meet at least the three-star OCOP standard, he said.

Chi added that earlier, in June, July, and August 2023, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in cooperation with districts and communes, organized several events showcasing handicraft villages, safe farm produce and OCOP commodities.

"These events have attracted the attention of dozens of businesses from 20 provinces and cities nationwide, giving consumers in the city the opportunity to access thousands of regional specialties," he said.

The next event to boost the sale of OCOP commodities is the Hanoi Agricultural Products Festival 2023. Scheduled to be held at Soc Son District Stadium from September 28 to October 1, it will feature around 160 booths with more than 1,500 safe farm produce, processed food, agricultural and handicraft products, and typical OCOP items from Soc Son District and 30 provinces and cities nationwide.

The event aims to provide an opportunity for participating enterprises to widely promote their brands, products, and agricultural models linked to ecotourism. It is also expected to boost the development of the agricultural economy, construction of new rural areas, preservation of rural community spaces, traditional culture, tourism and natural products.

According to statistics from the Hanoi Coordination Office of the New Rural Construction Program, from 2019 to date, the city has classified and awarded OCOP certificates with a rating of three stars or higher to 2,167 products. This accounts for about 22% of the total OCOP products nationwide (9,852 products).

"Hanoi's OCOP products have consolidated their position in the market, helping farmers to expand their production scale and increase the value of their products. As a result, their material and spiritual lives are improved," said Nguyen Xuan Dai, Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

This year, Hanoi will classify at least 400 OCOP products, Dai said, stressing that intensifying trade promotion activities and supporting the consumption of OCOP products are crucial to encourage enterprises to participate in developing the OCOP program".

Through such events, they can provide an opportunity for OCOP enterprises from Hanoi and many provinces and cities across the country to meet, network, trade and promote their product brands to reach the market of over 10 million people in Hanoi, Dai stressed.

More than 100 booths with over 2,000 OCOP products were displayed at the event on Trinh Cong Son Pedestrian Street.
