It is the initiative of the overseas Vietnamese who are scientists and intellectuals from seven countries, with the aim of connecting Vietnamese people and international friends in an effort to preserve the intangible cultural heritage of humanity and the worship rituals dedicated to Hung Kings.

The event will feature rituals, art performances and a ceremony to honour outstanding Vietnamese abroad.

Being one of the most important holidays in Vietnam, Hung Kings Anniversary is observed to remember and pay tribute to the Hung Kings who are the legendary founding fathers and first sovereigns of the nation. The festival began as a local holiday, but has become recognized as a national holiday since 2007.

According to local historians, the Hung Kings time was an important period in Vietnamese history. It created the basis for the Vietnamese culture and patriotism.

Vietnamese people believe that they were all born from the same mother Au Co’s magical egg. All Vietnamese people descend from a common ancestor.

This celebration is a reminder of how important solidarity and unity is to this country, the event organizers said.
