Hanoi Concert: Welcoming new year with classical melodies

Hanoi Concert is an annual event held by Hanoi Radio and Television. This year's program features the fusion of the best of Vietnamese and world music.

Hanoi Concert - New Year Concert 2025 will take place on January 1 at the Hanoi Opera House, presenting Vietnamese and world classical works.

According to Hanoi Radio and Television, the audience will enjoy monumental musical works such as Nguoi Ha Noi (Hanoi people) - a familiar and profound melody by composer Nguyen Dinh Thi performed by tenor Tuan Anh as well as the cheerful, bustling and joyful instrumental work Happy New Year by musician Do Kien Cuong.

In the international melody section, the highlight of the program is the work Cinema Paradiso (Paradise Cinema) by the famous composer Ennio Morricone. The combination of Bui Cong Duy’s emotional violin and Pham Khanh Ngoc’s charming soprano voice promises to leave an unforgettable emotional mark on the audiences’ hearts.

The work Cinema Paradiso was composed for the film of the same name by director Giuseppe Tornatore, released in 1988, which won an Oscar in 1989, and is about the undying love for cinema.

The program also features Waltz of the Flowers ​​- one of the most famous waltzes by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, taken from the ballet The Nutcracker. With the combination of string and woodwind instruments, the waltz promises to create a musical space that is both graceful, soaring, and splendid and magnificent.

Other art pieces include the heroic, exciting and energetic symphonies such as Festival Overture by the Russian genius composer Dmitri Shostakovich; Chapter IV of Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 - a triumph of willpower and the desire to win; Quel guardo il cavaliere which is a prominent excerpt from the opera Don Pasquale by the Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti; Overture from the opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg by Richard Wagner, one of the most classic operas; Una voce poco fa from The Barber of Seville by Rossini.

The program features the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra and famous artists such as People's Artist Bui Cong Duy, Meritorious Artist Pham Khanh Ngoc, tenor artist Tuan Anh, soprano Bao Yen among otherd under the guidance of Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji.

The program is broadcast live on Hanoi 1 channel, radio via FM96 and online on platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and Hanoi ON application.
