The cooperation between Hanoi, the ‘heart’ of Vietnam, and Binh Dinh, where is the land interference between the sun and the wind with beautiful beaches, is expected to promote the recovery of domestic tourism after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the conference themed “Connecting tourism between Hanoi - Binh Dinh in the ‘new normal” held in Hanoi at the weekend, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said despite being seriously affected by the pandemic for the past two years, local tour operators have taken initiatives for promoting domestic tourism.

In the context that the whole country is now entering a “new normal” with safe adaptation, flexibility, and effective control of the Covid-19 pandemic, Giang said the criteria of “safety” must be the first and foremost priority.

“This will encourage locals to travel. They would also feel more secure as the information about Covid-19 in the destination is regularly updated,” she added.

In addition, localities need to strictly follow four general safety rules for tourism, including Safe travelers, Safe businesses, Safe routes, and Safe destinations.”

The cooperation in tourism between the two localities will help promote the recovery of domestic tourism after the Covid-19 pandemic. “However, travel agents need to create new products to suit the changing needs of travelers,” he stated.

According to Director of Binh Dinh Department of Tourism Tran Van Thanh, the province has many potentials for tourism development such as beautiful coastlines with a year-round warm climate, a number of national tangible and intangible cultural heritages, and so on.

“If there are no more pandemic outbreaks or disasters in the future, by the end of 2022, the number of tourists to Binh Dinh would be restored to 70% compared to the same period in 2019; by the end of 2023, it will reach 100% compared to the pre-pandemic levels,” he said.

At the conference, the tourism associations of Vietnam, Hanoi City, Binh Dinh Province signed some memorandums of understanding on tourism cooperation.

Besides, relevant tourism authorities and travel agents also agreed to launch big promotional programs on tourism, in which travelers from Hanoi and Binh Dinh Province can enjoy discounts of up to 20%.
