American travelers have their eyes on Vietnam

With the highest number of tourism-related searches about Vietnam, visitors from the US are potential for Vietnamese tourism.

Tourists from the US are the most likely to travel to Vietnam following search volume for Vietnam's tourism on Google's market trend tracking tool, which grew 75% in 2023, the 6th largest in the world.

Those from other countries with the highest number of tourism-related searches for Vietnam were Australia, Japan, India, South Korea, Singapore, the UK, Germany, Malaysia, and Thailand, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Danang, Phu QuocHoi An, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Hue, and Phan Thiet were the most searched cities.

In 2023, there were 12.6 million foreign arrivals in Vietnam, of which American tourists ranked third with nearly 717,000 arrivals after South Korea (3.6 million), and China (1.7 million).

The "Tourism in Vietnam Market Overview 2023-2027" shows that tourism in Vietnam is expected to experience robust growth, driven by several key factors, such as the country's unique cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and affordable travel costs.

In addition, the government's proactive initiatives to promote tourism, such as visa exemptions for certain countries and marketing campaigns, are expected to stimulate market growth.

In 2024, Vietnam's tourism industry targets to welcome 17-18 million international tourists and serve 110 million domestic visitors, earning approximately VND840 trillion (US$34.5 billion). The number of international visitors to Vietnam is expected to remain at the same level as in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
